Safety and Traffic Monitoring in Port Tunnel

Kaohsiung, the largest sea transportation city of Taiwan, installed a safety and traffic monitoring system in their underground tunnels which connect the port and the main arterial routes from/to the downtown. The system requires the construction and future maintenance time as short as possible to reduce the impact to the heavy traffic.

The plans of surveillance are already underway to ensure the safety of all vehicles. However, there are some challenges revealed: The environment in the tunnel is relatively humid, dusty and salty. Secondly, the equipments are subjected to frequent vibration when trucks are passed by.
