Korenix JetBox 8210 is designed as a front-end communication computer with WinCE Operating System. Application developers easily use Windows integrated development environment to create their own programs according to various scenes of field applications. Developers get the benefits both from a general Windows compatible programming environment and a simplified embedded system of better monitoring control.
This front-end monitoring architecture gives JetBox 8210 the flexibility to be used in many different markets, such as POS, banking, telecom, transportation, industrial automation, energy, power, military, and medical fields. Field site devices such as PLCs, sensors, meters, RFID readers…etc. can be connected to the JetBox 8210 through serial ports, USB ports, and DI/DO. This WinCE-based computer performs as an intelligent agent to monitor the status of field devices and transmit messages to back-end technicians through its dual Ethernet ports or USB wireless dongle while abnormities occur. Further, the JetBox 8210 with Modbus gateway function lets industrial automation developers consolidate field devices into SCADA system easily.

A front-end monitoring system requires fewer resources than general high-end monitoring system. It works as an intelligent agent and focuses on message communication between front-end machines and back-end technicians. Basically, it requires hard real-time function for monitoring the disorder of machine and networking ability such as Ethernet or other wireless networking for message transmission.
Windows CE.NET
Although Windows 2000/ XP/ Vista are easy to be used and are familiar by end-users, they are also very complicated with many application programs included. Besides, the real time performance of the system is limited. Opposite to it, Windows CE.Net, designed to such monitoring system, contains complete characteristics of an embedded system and fits the front-end control requirement such as real time function, network and web service, or wireless networking ability.
